I like the idea of having a unit that could be installed in a rough opening. Sort of like the windows used in new construction that have a flange. Cut a rough opening, slide unit in, caulk it and screw it in place. I used 2x4's for the frame, 1x3 barn wood for the flange and hinged the top of the window to the top of the jamb.
